Queer Up North festival faces the axe after Arts Council cuts

Queer Up North, Manchester’s gay and lesbian festival, may be forced to close after the Arts Council told organisers that its £98,000 grant is to be scrapped. The festival is one of 194 arts bodies that have been hit with severe or total funding cuts at short notice.

Jessops sales plummet

The Guardian reports that sales at Jessops, Britain’s biggest photographic chain, have plummeted after losses of £70m in 2006.

Busy busy

Not much time to do anything on here at the moment due to lots of new work in motion pictures! I think some of the video files on the site are missing after I changed servers, but don’t have the time to go through and check everything.

Most Haunted: Coronation Street

On YouTube I found an episode of Most Haunted from 2005 in which they visit the studios and outdoor set of Coronation Street. The studio is built on a former graveyard they claim. This is not the 1960’s Granada block but a studio that was constructed next to Lower Byrom Street in the late 1980’s. Most Haunted: Coronation Street

Manchester Pride 2007 raised just £95,000 for good causes

For a second year running, Manchester Pride has raised one of the lowest amounts in its 17 year history. Just £95,000. This is despite the highest ticket prices ever (some people paid £18) and more than 40,000 tickets sold according to a report on the LGF website.
